If coach believes I can do something, then I’m down - I’m excited about it.

Odds are I’ll never wear an Olympic medal around my neck, but maybe… just maybe, I will. With that in mind I’ll take off down the road and put in the days work. If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process.
From Desiree Davila’s March 2006 training journal, back when her 5k PR was 16:17, and a 5:30 pace track workout felt uncomfortable (for comparison, her 2011 Boston marathon pace was 5:27/mile). (via runningxctf)

“This is my favorite picture of me running of all time. It was at the Olympic Trials Marathon last January. It was as I rounded the last corner with about 150 meters to go. I wasn’t going to win, or set a PR, but I was making the Olympic Team. After a very difficult year, a dream was coming true for me. It literally took my breath away and this picture captured that one moment. I love this picture because it reminds me of why I run and the power it has.”

Run log update!

So yes…I have not really been writing any training logs recently. I have been running, but not a whole lot. I don’t really feel like remembering all the runs I’ve done since my last log, so I’ll just tell you about three runs haha.

Last Sunday I did a 16 mile long run. It was really cold and hilly, but I did it and it was fun.

This past Friday (after not a whole lot of running all week) I ran 6.5 miles with a few nice hills and a nice 20 minute break where I sat in the sun (it was like 33 degrees!!! yay) and admired the frozen lake.

This past Saturday, the next day, I did an 18.5 mile long run. It was very hilly but not as cold, about 25 degrees. I ran 9 by myself and then my friend ran the next 9.5 with me, and another friend joined us for 6 of those. Running with friends made it so much better and fun! I got pretty tired the next mile but I wasn’t too sore. I then walked my dog and cleaned house for 3 hours so I was pretty exhausted that night…and then I went to bed at 1:30 because I was hanging out with someone haha.

I meant to run today but I woke up at 9 and then I had rehearsal, I had to meet people because I’m selling something, then I had to write a DBQ and do other homework. I’m okay with that though because track starts tomorrow!!!! I’ll start writing a weekly log with daily workouts now that track is starting. I’m so excited (I want to say my goal for the 3k is 11:45 but I know the marathon will hamper with my races and I don’t really mind but you know goals are good).
